  • Music News: Talla 2XLC and Saccoman invite to Open Your Heart out now on Technoclub Retro

Talla 2XLC had an enormous success with his rework of the Italian trance classic Distant Planet produced by Saccoman on the legendary label BXR (Mauro Picotto, Mario Piu, etc). The two very good friends Talla 2XLC and Saccoman meet up again in the studio for the full on uplifting rework of Open Your Heart released back in 1997 with huge impact in the trance clubs and charts. The original theme is so emotionally strong that is very hard for the listener to forget it. Back in the golden days of trance, Talla 2XLC had supported the track frequently in his sets on Technoclub and sounds logical to attempt to rework Open Your Heart and reintroduce its marvelous melodies to his younger trance followers. Talla is an expert DJ and producer with presence each weekend on clubs and festivals all over the world, testing in and out all his productions extensively, before releasing them to the public. He aims to be 100% sure that whatever track is released under his name will have an impact in the modern club culture. Saccoman from the legendary club Cocorico combines his love for the track with Talla and the result is absolutely incredible.

Be prepared to stay speechless with amazement in the middle of the dancefloor when the teutonic beats, thunderous basslines, pounding kicks and superb melodic layers appear at the top. The breakdown is truly sensitive with piano chords, airy harps and cinematic atmosphere. When the classic synthy theme unleashed, the club will erupt in seconds, and as the build up takes the listener in its effortless climax, the result will blow up the speakers and keep the trance fans fully satisfied. As with all Talla’s reworks, once again he respects the original track and succeeds to update it in a way that uplifting trance fans will adore and even encourage them to rediscover the original versions. The timeless classic Open Your Heart is reworked in perfection by Talla 2XLC and the original artist Saccoman out now on Technoclub Retro.

  • Progressive Review: Darren Tate & Sxcha - Flashing Lights out on Anjunabeats

Darren Tate announces new album ‘Metamorphosis’ with progressive single ‘Flashing Lights’, a collaboration with songwriter and vocalist Sxcha.

Darren Tate has been a pivotal artist in dance music for over twenty years. In 2022, the UK Top 10 charting producer joined forces with Above & Beyond’s Jono Grant to form JODA. Released on Anjunabeats, their self-titled debut album has since seen over 10 million combined streams.

Under the aliases DT8 Project, Angelic with Judge Jules, Jurgen Vries, Orion and Citizen Caned, Darren has amassed twelve Top 40 UK singles across his accomplished career. He is also the owner of Mondo Records UK and a successful composer; in 2022, he scored the soundtrack for the IMAX feature film ‘The Last Glaciers’ with Above & Beyond.

Darren got off to a flying start this year by joining forces with trance titan Solarstone and established vocalist Julie Scott on ‘A Long Way From Home’, a single that earned support from Nicole Moudaber, ANNA, Joris Voorn, Hernán Cattáneo, Carl Craig, Nora En Pure and more. He followed that up with ‘Adrift’, which saw spins from the likes of Ben Malone, Ferry Corsten, Don Diablo, Ruben De Ronde, and The Thrillseekers.

    [item value="10"] Darren Tate & Sxcha - Flashing Lights[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Darren Tate is an exceptional artist with unforgettable classics under his belt managing to float in and out of various styles with great ease and superb finesse with eclectic sounds and high quality standards. The announcement of his album on Anjunabeats is superb news and the first two singles, his epic collaboration with Solarstone and now the new single with Sxcha called Flashing Lights. This is another little precious jewel in music collection with 122 BPM progressive beauty with pulsating deep basslines, thumping drums, punchy kicks and excellent floating dark synths on top that match perfectly the dark dreamy moody Sxcha vocals. It gives you the impression that you are upon a nice boat and you travel with vicious rough waters towards the final destination that is the full discovery of your inner-self. It works as dancefloor material with its relentless build up but also as nice starter to any deep progressive sets and home listening tripping out tunes. #PureGold Love iT [/content]

  • Trance Review: Alex Sonata & TheRio x Equinøx - Halcyon out on Anjunabeats

Alex Sonata & TheRio join forces with Equinøx on ‘Halcyon’, out now on Anjunabeats.

Fraser Shaw and Riccardo Derio first began producing together in 2018. Two years later, the pair officially emerged as Alex Sonata & TheRio, and in 2021, they made their Anjunabeats debut with ‘Time’, a track released as part of our Rising EP series.

The Scottish-Italian duo went from strength to strength in the years that followed, releasing trance floor-fillers like 'Are We Dreaming', 'Cala Luna' and 'Breath Of The Wild'. Last year: they released ‘Mantra’, which Above & Beyond hammered at their headline performance at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas and at legendary London institution Printworks; joined forces with Elevven on ‘Hanalei’; and collaborated with trance linchpin Giuseppe Ottaviani and electro pop vocalist Tishmal on ‘Tears Of The Kingdom’.

The pair rounded off 2023 by mixing the hotly-anticipated Anjunabeats Worldwide 11 compilation, which shot to #1 on the US iTunes Dance chart. They also dropped their ‘Feels Like Home EP’, which featured all of the duo’s solo productions from 2023, including four new originals that featured on Worldwide 11.

The duo earned support from trance icons like Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Paul van Dyk, as well as the likes of David Guetta, Markus Schulz, Farius, Hernan Cattaneo and more on their releases in 2023 alone.

Italian DJ and producer Equinøx, aka Matteo Corradi, is a burgeoning progressive house and melodic techno artist hailing from Milan. His last single ‘Everyman’, released on MEDUZA’s coveted Aeterna Records earlier this year, saw spins from the likes of Tiësto, W&W, R3HAB, ALOK, Zonderling, Benny Benassi and beyond.

Following performances at Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Weekender at The Gorge, our Anjunabeats Outdoors show in Montreal and a sold-out Worldwide 11 launch event in Glasgow, Alex Sonata & TheRio kickstarted 2024 by embarking on their first run of international tour dates. Next up in their Worldwide 11 Tour are headline shows in San Francisco and Denver, tickets on sale now:

  • Music News: British Artist Charlie Boon Releases Highly Anticipated Track: ‘All My Life’ on Armada Music

Boon has dubbed the track a "euphoric banger"

    Layla Benitez

Layla Benitez — daughter to John Benitez aka Jellybean, who’s produced and remixed artists such as Madonna, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and the Pointer Sisters — may have been in DJ booths since she was barely old enough to walk, but her DJ'ing and production reveal an artist who continues to evolve and grow with every gig and every experience. Her August 2021 Boiler Room set showcases an 80s synth-influenced sound she describes as ‘indie dance meets dark disco’, a flickering neon bridge between her New York roots and Miami home.

Meanwhile, her long hours spent in the studio reveal a producer working within a melodic techno sound and a laid-back, heavy, soulful groove that, somehow, fits within the same sonic aesthetic. It’s not an accident. Layla has honed her understanding of both DJing and production weekly on the very front line, touring the world and as a resident at Space Miami.

In the last few years, her career has been on a constant upward trajectory. Named 2022 Future Star by DJ Mag Layla has played to huge crowds at events such as Coachella  EXIT, Afterlife, Circoloco  EDC, The Warehouse Project, Tomorrowland, Mayan Warrior and in iconic venues such as DC-10, Red Rocks, Warung, etc.

    MotherEarth

MotherEarth — Jules Brand — takes you on a journey that bridges the gap between your individual existence and the vast infinity of everything surrounding and connecting us. The power of MotherEarth stems from a deeply rooted belief that music is an expression of total freedom. A source of raw energy in its purest form. Motherearth gives his audience a place they can call their own, liberating and satisfying. The last few months of 2023 and into 2024 will see MotherEarth release and collaborate with great new labels launched by established artists.Developed over the last 12 months and drawing from ten years of producing experience, MotherEarth has over a dozen melodic techno tracks ready for release.

Notable support by CamelPhat, Korolova, Kevin de Vries, Joris Voorn, Agents Of Time and Rebūke.

MotherEarth: “I’m really excited to release my new collab ‘Usion’ together with Layla Benitez on Tomorrowland Music. ‘Usion’ is an auditory journey through the realms of illusion. With a powerful melodic drop that ignites the senses. The break melody sounds a bit like a classical piano piece, tying everything together nicely. I hope it resonates with you!”

    Tigerblind

TigerBlind have already drummed up support from the likes of CamelPhat, Solomun, Dom Dolla  and Swedish House Mafia to name a few. The duo hailing from Liverpool have had relative success with their edit of Grum's ‘Shout’ that led to an official release of the tune on Anjunabeats as well as recently remixing ‘Compute’ for Camelphat & Ali Love. With support from Radio 1 from Danny Howard, Pete Tong & Sarah Story the future looks bright for the up and coming duo with a lot more to come…

Notable support by Swedish House Mafia, Solomun, Dom Dolla, MEDUZA, CamelPhat, Above & Beyond, Solardo, Sonny Fodera, Goom Gum, Danny Howard, Pete Tong, Tiësto, Vintage Culture, Jaguar and Cristoph.

Tigerblind: "We just like to get in the studio and see what works. If it feels natural and right then we will pursue the idea and finish it off. With 'Raided' we wanted to tip our hats to the nostalgic rave sound and I think we’ve achieved it with this record. We wanted to create something with a nostalgic feel and high energy that will sound great in any environment whether that be a club or maybe a festival setting."

    KILL SCRIPT

Immersed in the pulsating intersection of cinematic visuals and melodic techno, KILL SCRIPT’s sonic narratives resonate deeply with fans worldwide. Each KILL SCRIPT performance unfolds as an immersive journey, captivating audiences with expansive soundscapes and genre pushing productions. Establishing a wide-reaching fanbase, with gripping performances at EDC Las Vegas, EDC Orlando, Electric Zoo, and Seismic Dance Event to sold-out headline shows at the iconic Halcyon San Francisco, the intimate confines of Soundcheck DC, and an abandoned boiler room in Atlanta, KILL SCRIPT consistently challenges the boundaries of the underground.

At the core of KILL SCRIPT's artistry lies a fusion of sci-fi cinematography and techno prowess, earning accolades from Armada Music and swift acclaim within house and techno circles. Evolving his sound for the coming years, KILL SCRIPT enters 2024 with an extensive arsenal of unreleased melodic treasures. Poised for an unprecedented ascent, KILL SCRIPT is ready to mark this year as his most monumental yet. KILL SCRIPT will also be officially remixing Anyma’s latest ‘Pictures Of You’ single, dropping later this Spring.

Notable support by Anyma, Tale Of Us, Cassian and Kevin de Vries.

KILLSCRIPT: "'Gravity' is my follow-up to my first track with Linney, 'Line In the Sand'. After so much love from the fans on that track, we knew we had to go back into the studio and work on something totally new. I made 'Gravity' and instantly knew that Linney had to be a part of the record. Her voice is so angelic and mixing that vibe with the harsher synths within the melodic techno sound created a very special space. We are so excited to hear what everyone thinks!"

  • Trance Review: Solarstone & Evan Henzi - Revelation out 26th of April on Black Hole Recordings

On a late February Rotterdam night, midway through his standout ASOT 2024 performance, Solarstone took the wraps off his new single … and it proved to be every bit the ‘Revelation’.

Having started the year with his Stine Grove-vocalled ‘The One’, the Pure Trance titan’s swapped the chromosomes for an equally debut-some vocal number with Evan Henzi. Evan’s will be a fresh name to some, but (through his work with Gareth Emery, Ashley Wallbridge and others), already embedded for others. For Solar watchers however, it’ll be his teaming with Kristina Sky and Danny Stubbs on Pure Trance Recordings’ ‘Rollercoaster’ that’ll bring the quickest finger-snap of recognition.

With an artistic synergy that’s impossible to miss, together the pair have conjured something comparably irresistible. Solarstone’s string-strung overture (major ‘4ever’ vibes!) gives way to a bassy, floor-forceful-drive. Further in, Vangelis-like feels affect a mellow drama to its midsection, before his beautifully cultivated, post-break elevation lifts the track again.

West-coast-wistful, Evan’s tones permeate every pore of Revelation, while the song’s theme likewise journeys far and wide. Through it his mind “roams further from home”, down some (doubtlessly emotional) “rocky roads”, all the while contemplating whether to actually stay or go.

    [item value="10"]Solarstone & Evan Henzi - Revelation [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Solarstone is an incredible artist who compose always masterpieces and his next collaboration is an absolute hymn for love. Evan Henzi is a super talented singer that we would love to listen his voice more frequently in the future as he has that very delicate and characteristic voice that adds uniqueness to anything he touches sonically. Revelation is destined to become one of the major vocal trance anthems of the year. Powerful energetic punchy 136 BPM uplifter with rock guitar licks throughout the track while the breakdown is full of orchestral strings, euphoric colorful synths and melodramatic atmosphere while the Evan vocal simply shines bright and wins the listeners straight away. The climax is euphoric with incredible pounding pumping bass, sharp attacking synthy riffs, piano and guitar riffs working like a treat to create an exceptional euphoric mega result ready to dominate the summer festivals. #PureGold Love iT[/content]

  • Music Industry News: BEAT Music Fund Acquires Amsterdam Music Publisher, Cloud 9 Music; Armada Music Forms Armada Music Group as Parent Company

The acquisition further strengthens Armada Music Group’s publishing division, underscoring the company’s mission to creatively fuel the dance industry under one roof

BEAT Music Fund, the first-ever dance investment fund from Armada Music, has announced the acquisition of Amsterdam-based music publisher, Cloud 9 Music, bolstering Armada’s existing publishing division. As part of the acquisition, the teams of Armada Music’s existing publishing company, Armada Publishing B.V., and Cloud 9 Music will merge to form Armada Music Publishing. This strategic move underscores Armada’s mission to position itself as the best partner in the in-demand global electronic dance industry, projected to reach $20.9 billion by 2033.

As part of the acquisition, Cloud 9 Music’s copyright assets and songwriters will be serviced and administered by Armada Music Publishing. Employees from Cloud 9 Music will join the team, effectively tripling its headcount. Armada Music Publishing will include a full-service and experienced publishing back-office team operating under its newly formed parent company, Armada Music Group. The Group was established to seamlessly offer label, publishing, and catalog acquisition services under one roof with a mission to bolster creativity for current and prospective representation. By merging the label’s artist-centric approach to creativity with the burgeoning opportunities for artists in the publishing world, this acquisition synergistically enables Armada Music Group to broaden its endeavors and provide comprehensive guidance to artists within a unified framework. Maykel Piron will oversee Armada Music Publishing and its entities; Chief Financial Officer, Margôt Hölscher, General Manager, Michel Peek, and Head of Publishing Administration, Ronald Visser encompass Armada Music Publishing leadership team.
“This acquisition is significant to us and will boost our ability to empower today’s dance artists and expand their opportunities to monetize their work in the current landscape,” said Piron, CEO and co-founder of Armada Music Group. “Now more than ever, today’s artists need a trusted partner. Providing label, publishing services and opportunities within catalog investment all under one roof directly fuels our ongoing mission to advocate for dance artists, contribute to their success, and uphold the value of creativity.”
The Group’s publishing power move allows Armada Music Publishing to now represent a roster of world-renowned songwriters, producers and emerging talent, including Armin van Buuren, Brennan Heart, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, D.O.D, Dubvision, Kevin Saunderson, Nervo, Reinier Zonneveld, Sander van Doorn, Vini Vici, W&W, Yulia Niko, Priska, KDYN and more. The publishing catalog also includes global dance hits such as Armin van Buuren’s Grammy Award-nominated ‘This Is What It Feels Like’, ‘Reality’ by Lost Frequencies and Da Beatfreakz’ co-written share in ‘Prada’ which was originally performed by Cassö, D-Block Europe, and Raye.

BEAT Music Fund launched in April 2023 as an artist-friendly vehicle to unlock value from recordings and copyrights within the thriving dance arena. Its success has fueled the acquisitions of Cloud 9, iconic NY-based dance label King Street Sounds, Dutch dance duo Chocolate Puma, and UK-based labels Sola Records and VIVa MUSiC, among others. With BEAT planning to increase its investment to at least $500 million in the coming years, Armada Music and Armada Music Publishing will work in tandem to uphold the legacy of dance artists and protect their work's creative and commercial value.

BEAT’s portfolio will continue to grow; in the first six months following its launch, BEAT acquired the catalogs of, among others, electronic music star ARTY, house and techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson’s KMS Records, legendary NYC-based house label King Street Sounds and chart-topping producers Chocolate Puma.
